The Bachelor of Arts and Science in Environment (BASE) at Cape Breton University (CBU) is a fully interdisciplinary program that integrates science, arts, and social sciences to address environmental and sustainability challenges. Situated amidst the natural beauty of Cape Breton Island, the program emphasizes experiential learning and incorporates Indigenous perspectives, particularly through opportunities to engage in Mi’kmaq Studies. Students undertake a science concentration, an arts/social science concentration, and a core set of environment-themed courses, preparing them to become active and responsible agents in developing sustainable environmental practices.
