Canadian Express Entry Draws In an unprecedented move, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has once again demonstrated its commitment to filling critical gaps in the workforce by conducting multiple Express Entry draws targeting specific occupations. This week alone, a staggering 6,470 potential residents received invitations to apply (ITAs), marking a significant spike in the country's immigration activities. What is Canadian Express Entry Draws Canadian Express Entry is a system for three prominent economic immigration programs which are; Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience class and Federal Skilled trades program. It was launched in 2015 to immigrate the best candidate into Canada's workforce and labor. Express Entry programs have different eligibility criteria which interested candidates should meet .Candidates will be ranked in the Express Entry pool using the Comprehensive Ranking system. CRS is a point based system where candidates will be ranked on various factors, for example age, work experience, language test results etc. Surge in Healthcare Recruitment The latest draw, which issued 3,750 ITAs specifically to healthcare professionals, underscores a significant demand in this sector. With a required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 445, it's clear that Canada is looking to bolster its healthcare system with highly qualified professionals. This draw was particularly notable as it focused on 35 specific healthcare occupations, reflecting a strategic approach to address the urgent needs within this vital sector. Earlier this year, another healthcare-specific draw in February also issued over 3,000 ITAs, confirming the ongoing critical demand in Canadian healthcare. These targeted draws not only help streamline the immigration process but ensure that Canada's healthcare system remains robust and well-equipped. Canadian Express Entry Draws take place around every two weeks. Broadening the Scope: Other Targeted Occupations In addition to healthcare, the IRCC has been actively conducting draws for other critical sectors. On July 4, a draw targeted 10 specific trade occupations, and on July 2, the focus was on candidates from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), emphasizing the diversity in Canada’s labor market needs. These program-specific draws have become a central strategy for IRCC, introduced to manage the high levels of temporary residents by providing them more pathways to permanent residency. This strategy aligns with the broader goals of maintaining economic stability and filling job vacancies in high-demand sectors. IRCC’s Strategic Categories for ITAs IRCC has delineated six strategic categories where the likelihood of receiving an ITA is notably higher. These categories include:
